Management and Leadership
The leadership challenge in local government has never been greater, as articulated in the Pay and Workforce Strategy and Vibrant Leadership. North West Employers provides support and information to authorities in developing their approach to developing leadership.
In addition to the core service of providing advice and guidance to authorities, we are regularly asked to deliver leadership and management development programmes. All our programmes are tailored to the needs and ambitions of the authority and are shaped by our own experience of working with managers and Elected Members, and an awareness of the challenges they face.
During the last five years we have delivered programmes for approximately 80% of authorities in the region, from Team Leaders to Chief Executives and Leaders.
We believe that individual leadership development is essential, but developing leadership as something that an organisation can feel and see on a day to day basis requires more than a focus on individuals. We work with authorities to develop their leadership thinking and practice at an individual, team and organisational level and with Officers and Elected Members.
