Local Governance Community of Practice
This is an exciting new initiative to develop practice around the Local Government White Paper, with two-way communication to Councillors through the Members Development Gateway. A regional Community of Practice will be set up to develop cutting edge practice around the White Paper challenges; initially in the interlinked areas of the new performance and improvement framework, local strategic partnerships and local area agreements and external scrutiny.
A Community of Practice is a group of practitioners who share sets of challenges and who deepen their knowledge and expertise by interacting on an ongoing basis to find solutions to mutual problems. This Community of Practice will be powered by the new TALK software package developed by the University of Manchester, and participants will be provided with the necessary equipment and training as an integral part of this programme. Dennis Reed, a Senior Associate of the University and North West Employers has been commissioned to co-ordinate the initial stages of the programme. The project has been funded by NWIN (now part of the North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership - NWIEP) and is managed through the Centre for Local Governance at the University.
The Community of Practice will be working with North West Employers and the Overview and Scrutiny Network. If you would like to know more about the Gateway and overview and scrutiny practice, please click the link below to e-mail the Gateway Adviser.
