Overview and Scrutiny SummaryJoint Scrutiny of the Voluntary and Community Sector
In 2005 it was proposed by the Centre for Public Scrutiny, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Improvement and Development Agency, that a scrutiny review of the strategic effectiveness of the voluntary and community sector be carried out jointly between successful “Getting Closer to the Community” beacon authorities and their respective Local Strategic Partnerships. Tameside MBC and the Tameside Strategic Partnership are going to do this and a joint scrutiny panel has been agreed to oversee this work. The inaugural meeting was held on 17 March 2006.
The joint scrutiny exercise will map the community and voluntary sector and evaluate its contribution. The exercise is also intended to provide a model for joint working and learning derived from the experience, which will be made available nationally.
