North West Regional Equality and Diversity Award
In October 2006, North West Employers launched an Equalities Award Scheme to highlight and promote awareness and achievement within authorities in relation to equality and diversity issues. This regional scheme celebrates and encourages creativity and innovation in promoting equality of opportunity for all.
The Award is made to the Local Authority/Partnership of Authorities within the region which submits examples of good practice of an activity or project which:
- Promotes Equality and Diversity in terms of Age, Disability, Gender, Race, Sexual Orientation, Faith, etc.
- Should have been fully implemented by December.
- Can demonstrate that fundamental changes have taken place that have advanced existing practices.
Criteria
In deciding on a successful submission, the Panel, made up of elected members and officers both regionally and nationally, will assess the progress as well as level of change achieved taking into account the following factors:
- The degree to which the project or action is innovative and challenges the status quo.
- The actual or potential outcome/impact of the project or action.
- Take into account the progress as well as the level of change achieved.
- The degree to which the overall objective of the project/activity has been met and how it will be evaluated.
- The level of consultation/involvement of other groups - particularly those affected by the project/activity and others, eg employees, externally affected groups such as the community.
The project/activity, where possible, may be subject to a pre-assessment visit/discussion. The pre-assessment and judging process will take place between January and March and the successful submitting authorities will be notified once the full process has been completed.
Unless we hear to the contrary, we will publicise all the excellent work that is being carried out within the region by sharing submissions via this website.
