Chief Executive Salary Reviews
In an ever-increasingly competitive market, with a reducing pool of suitable candidates, it is important that the salary of the Chief Executive keeps pace to avoid recruitment and retention difficulties, which in themselves can prove expensive. However, top managers’ pay in local government can be a sensitive issue and, as a result, and as part of our core service at no extra charge, we offer independent advice on the salaries of Chief Executives.
As part of that service we will undertake a review in accordance with the guidance produced by the Joint Negotiating Committee for Chief Executives, which says that when deciding the level of remuneration the following factors should be considered:
- Any special market considerations.
- Any substantial local factors not common to authorities of similar type and size.
- Comparative salary information from other similar authorities.
Following an initial briefing from senior Elected Members we will produce a report covering these issues and including data from our extensive database of Chief Executive and Chief Officer salaries. Additionally, we will attend any meetings of members to explain the findings contained within our report.
For further information on any of the above please contact Dave Campbell, Deputy Chief Executive, on 0161 214 7116, or click the link below to e-mail Dave.
