HR Development Gateway
Developing Strategic Human Resources Capacity in the North West The development of strategic HR capacity in local authorities is central to delivering transformational change. The need to make an investment in the HR function is articulated in the Pay and Workforce Strategy at a national and regional level.
There is also growing recognition that the role of HR is experiencing enormous change. The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) research report, ‘Managing and Developing HR Careers’, clearly states that HR needs to nurture and retain talent.
“It is clear that HR functions would benefit from spending more time thinking through the implications of new forms of HR skills and consider proactive development activity to help people gain the skill sets they need.
“North West Employers has a strong tradition of supporting HR within the North West and NWIEP support has meant we have been able to develop an innovative opportunity by offering the HR community new and existing development opportunities, together with personal support.” Liz McQue, Chief Executive, North West Employers
North West Employers recognises that HR’s role is as important as ever in making sure authorities are working in a way that maximizes their workforces’ capacity for quality service delivery, both now and in the future. The Gateway site serves as a portal to information and development opportunities for the HR community and aims to build on the previous success of the Gateway funded by the North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership.
