NWIEP Logo
“The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) has set a clear direction in placing ‘continuing learning’ as one of the hallmarks of excellent HR practitioners. The Gateway will provide a place for people to reflect on their practice, skills and development needs and find a response that fits their needs.”
Liz McQue, Chief Executive, North West Employers

The aim of the Gateway is to guide individuals and assist them in choosing the most effective development opportunities.

Key elements of the Gateway include:

  • A Gateway Adviser who acts as first point of contact and provides individual development sessions to entrants to the Gateway as desired. A key aim of the Gateway is to provide a place for people to reflect on their strengths and development needs to shape a personal development plan or to gather advice and support with their continual professional development. To book a meeting contact the Gateway Adviser.
  • Signposting to a range of development opportunities including development programmes, shadowing and mentoring.
  • Commissioning a range of customised development programmes for the HR community in the region. The first suite of Gateway programmes has been heavily subsidised by the North West Improvement Network (NWIN) as part of their commitment to developing HR capacity. To see current programmes click here.
  • Networking and knowledge sharing opportunities. A newly formed North West Employers and Public Sector People Managers’ Association (PPMA) development network is a key link back to the Gateway, ensuring that the needs of HR practitioners are fed back. Click here find out more.
HR practitioners registered with the Gateway will receive updates on development opportunities and will be eligible to apply for the subsidised programmes.
