Good Practice Resource Library

NWIEP Logo
The North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (NWIEP) has funded a North West Employers programme to develop good practice ‘resource packs’ that show the methods and practical experience of successful authorities in tackling complex workforce issues.

The resource packs provide comprehensive detail of the highlighted activities from strategic objectives and planning through to the processes, key documents and the results achieved.

The intention is that other authorities will be able to learn from these successes and identify how approaches may be tailored to their specific local circumstances to produce further success stories.

Apprenticeships/Work Experience

Over the last two years Lancashire County Council has developed an impressive suite of programmes to generate apprenticeship and work experience opportunities for local communities. These programmes have been very successful in:

  • Delivering community ambitions to provide work opportunities for disadvantaged groups and communities.
  • Increasing the number of Lancashire CC apprenticeships from 16 positions to 250.
  • Improving the diversity and skills profile of the workforce.
  • Generating cashable efficiency gains through a transformed HR service.
  • Bringing partner contributions together to provide better services and opportunities for job seekers.
