Skills Net

North West Employers is pleased to be able to announce the launch of Skills Net, the online tool to help authorities plan and deliver commitments to the Skills Pledge, as well as the pathway to achieving the North West Local Government Skills Award.

There are four key functions of the tool:

a) Self Assessment – against the North West Local Government Skills Award Criteria, which incorporate the Skills Pledge commitments.

b) Action Planning – online planning and reporting function using a traffic light rating against all criteria, helps to focus on achievements and prioritise activity.

c) Peer Assessment – North West Employers will provide support, oversee progress and undertake Skills Award assessment, both face-to-face and also remotely via the Skills Net. The assessment will be verified by the North West Local Government Steering Group, which is made up of regional, public agency delivery partners.

d) Help and Guidance – each criterion has a definition and a description of the type of evidence required to achieve the Award and there are many examples of good practice, resources and links to national/local websites, all designed to help your organisation meet specific Skills Award criteria.

Over the coming months we will continue to populate and improve the ‘Help’ section of the tool with further examples of good practice, so if your authority is willing to share your knowledge and expertise with others (particularly where we currently have gaps on Skills Net), or have any suggestions which could improve the tool, please get in touch.

More information on signing up to the Skills Award and accessing Skills Net can be found in our Skills Award booklet, as well as by clicking the links on the left.
