Building HR Capacity

Developing HR capacity is one of North West Employers’ regional initiatives for 2006/2008. Development activities aimed at building HR capacity offered regionally over the last twelve months have included:

  • Developing and piloting a bespoke 360° feedback questionnaire with a large group of Heads of HR.
  • Organising a feedback event which outlined and discussed the common strengths and development needs identified by the 360° pilot.
  • Developing a partnership with John Moore University and offering an MA in Strategic HR for local government practitioners. (The first cohort started in June 2006).
  • Delivering a suite of information events on specific elements of the Local Government Pay and Workforce Strategy.
Whilst this significant amount of development activity has already been delivered, the intention is that a proposed new suite of activities developed in partnership with the Public Sector People Managers Association (PPMA) will build on this work. The following model illustrates our next exciting venture.
